Position: Project Assistant for Education and Child Protection
General Objective of the Position: The Education and Child Protection Project Assistant will support the Education Project Coordinator in implementing educational and child protection activities for Roma refugee children. The assistant will facilitate access to education, support the integration of refugee children into local schools, and ensure their protection in line with international principles and regulations.
The Public Association "Union of Young Roma of the Republic of Moldova ‘Tărnă Rom’" is a non-governmental, apolitical, non-profit organization.
The association's objectives include:
- Contributing to the development of cultural, educational, social, and economic strategies for the Roma population;
- Advocating for and protecting the rights, interests, and legitimate freedoms of Roma people;
- Raising public awareness of the issues faced by the Roma community;
- Promoting and supporting Roma in the Republic of Moldova.
Currently, the association is implementing the project “Creating Educational Opportunities and Facilitating Employment Inclusion for Roma Refugees in the Republic of Moldova,” funded by UNHCR. In this regard, applications are invited for the position of Project Assistant for Education and Child Protection.
Main Responsibilities:
- Providing administrative and logistical support for organizing and implementing educational activities;
- Coordinating and monitoring educational activities, including literacy classes for children and youth;
- Collaborating with educational institutions, local authorities, and partner organizations to ensure access to education for refugee children;
- Identifying and managing child protection risks and implementing appropriate protection measures;
- Actively participating in the preparation and delivery of training sessions for teachers on non-discrimination and child protection;
- Collecting and maintaining relevant data for reporting and monitoring progress in educational activities;
- Preparing periodic reports on activity progress and meeting project indicators.
Candidate Requirements:
Education and Previous Experience:
- University degree in education, sociology, psychology, law, or related fields;
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in education or child protection.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills;
- Proficiency in Romanian (advanced level); knowledge of English, Russian, Ukrainian, and/or Romani is an advantage;
- Experience working with refugee children or vulnerable groups is an asset;
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and build strong relationships with various stakeholders;
- Understanding and commitment to gender equality and inclusion principles;
- Empathy, punctuality, seriousness, and willingness to participate in relevant training;
- Ability to work with documents, meet deadlines, and comply with the organization's rules and procedures;
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment;
- Responsibility, attention to detail, professional ethics, and dedication to child rights protection.
Workplace:
Chisinau municipality (the office location will be communicated during the hiring process).
