Cristina Sîrbu, recently appointed co-chair of the Roma Task Force (RTF) on behalf of Intersos Moldova, chaired a strategic meeting to analyze the progress and future directions of the organization. The meeting highlighted the significant achievements of the RTF in 2023, focusing on the inclusion of Roma refugees in various aspects of Moldova's social and educational life. "Amare Amala" and "Roma Mapping Development" were two remarkable projects mentioned, illustrating Intersos Moldova's ongoing commitment to supporting and improving the lives of these vulnerable communities.
During discussions for planning in 2024, special attention was given to strengthening collaboration with government institutions and local NGOs to ensure the effective implementation of future projects. Priorities identified included establishing a closer mechanism of cooperation between RTF and state institutions, as well as expanding mapping efforts and integrating a greater number of Roma children into the education system.
Proposals for amending regulations on the temporary protection of refugees were also discussed, with a focus on guaranteeing their rights and facilitating access to essential services.
Cristina Sîrbu emphasized the importance of communication and the ongoing commitment of RTF members to addressing the challenges faced by the Roma community in the Republic of Moldova. The meeting concluded with thanks to all participants for their valuable contributions and encouragement for close and effective collaboration in the future.
